The purpose of this site (My Mission Statement):
My goal as a speaker, author, podcaster and blogger is to help motivated but overwhelmed writers and speakers learn to market their work so they can make a living from their writing/speaking.
What will you find on my website?
The short answer is – a lot! You’ll find free training content on relevant topics for authors and speakers.
On the Home Page:
You’ll see a link to the welcome video (the bright orange “New Here? Start Here?” box). Please note that since this video was recorded, I have updated my first free offer from the checklist collection to a series of video training lessons on author websites. My two most popular checklists from that original offer are still available – simply click on one or both of the links just to the right of my name on the home page, and you can download the checklists on Book Marketing and Self-publishing.
Under the main header image is a quick link to the free Ideas to Books Podcast in iTunes.
Scrolling down, you’ll see a blurb about my newest freebie: 15 Must-Haves for Author Websites, which includes a roadmap and video course. These videos answer some of the most frequently asked questions I hear.
Scroll down a bit more and you’ll find a link to my FREE mini-course “How to Set Up a Self-Hosted WordPress Website.” It gives step-by-step instructions, and you can watch “over my shoulder” while I set up a website from scratch.
Underneath that link you can find information about my latest books. These sections will be updated whenever I release a new book.
Between the book release sections, you’ll see a link inviting you to view my speaking topics. I’d love to share a presentation with your writers’ group!
The latest posts from my blog and podcast show notes are featured beneath a “Let’s Chat” bar that links to a page telling how you can work with me one-on-one through my coaching program.
Right under the most recent posts and podcasts, you’ll see links to a lot of places we can connect online. Pick your favorite social platform(s) and follow/like/subscribe to/connect with me so we can get to know each other better.
Top Menu Links:
The proverbial “Home” link, followed by a link to the About Me page. That page shares an essay I wrote about my life (once upon a time . . .) as well as a fun tidbit about the day I met Erma Bombeck’s daughter, Betsy. Beneath the About Me link, you can find a link to my Bio (geared toward media, bloggers, and podcasters), About this Site (the page you’re currently reading!), a download link to my brochure (in PDF form), a short post I wrote about my writing journey, a gallery of screenshots for some of the client sites I’ve built, and a page with client testimonials.
Next, you can take a peek into my life via some photo galleries, including one titled, “A Writer’s Life,” which shows highlights from conferences, retreats, book signings, and more. The gallery called, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” shares photos from my life.
The “I write” tab clicks to a portfolio of my published books. There are also quick links to each book’s description page beneath the “I write” tab as well as a page of customer reviews about my books.
Under the “I teach” tab you can view links to various workshops and presentations I offer. The next two tabs – “I design” & “I coach” – share a bit about my services.
The next tab – Free Stuff – has dropdown links to the freebies page (updated frequently, so check back often), links to my other websites, some of my presentations, and a selection of articles.
Next, you can find a link called “Podcast,” which directs to the Show Notes posts from the Ideas to Books Podcast. Be sure to subscribe so you won’t miss any episodes! If you’re interested in being a guest on my show, you can find a link to the podcast guest application beneath the Podcast tab.
A link to my Blog is next in line on the top menu bar.
Click on the Services link to open a page that explains the services I offer. There’s also a Contact Form on that page in case you have questions about a specific service or wish to schedule a free initial 15-minute consultation.
The Support tab links to my help desk. If you have any technical issues with courses, downloads, or notice any other issues with my site, simply click on this tab and submit a support ticket and I’ll resolve your issue as soon as possible. You can also reach my support system directly by going to LindasHelpDesk.com.
Next to last is a link to a free mini-course, How to Set Up a Self-Hosted WordPress Website, which is a question I get asked a lot.
Finally, the last link in the upper menu goes to my Contact Page. There’s a form on that page you can use if you have any comments, non-support related questions, or if you just want to say hi.
Footer Content:
The footer displays on every page, and includes a search bar, my latest tweet, links to my author profiles at Amazon, GoodReads, and BookBub, and links to all the legal mumbo jumbo we’re supposed to put on our sites.
Primary Sidebar:
The main sidebar contains a form that will get you that FREE website must-haves video training I mentioned earlier. Signing up for the free training also grants you membership to my free email community. Under that you’ll find buttons that link to the Ideas to Books Podcast on iTunes and Google Play. Next, you’ll find a widget with random reviews of some of my books. Finally, you’ll find a form that enables you to get blog updates from me via email. It’s also free.
Whew! That’s a LOT of stuff! But I hope you find it all helpful.
Have a question you want me to blog about?
If there’s a particular point in marketing you’re struggling with, send me a note via the Contact Page and ask me to blog about it. If I can help with the area you need help with, I’ll do my best!
