Episode 29 of the Ideas to Books Podcast features an interview with inspirational romance author Heather Greer.
About Heather:
Growing up in Carbondale as a pastor’s daughter, I understand the issues associated with life on the cusp of the Bible belt. I have an intimate knowledge of the physical aspects of the town and incorporate all of this into Faith’s Journey. As a pastor’s wife, youth pastor and mother of four, I understand the struggle young adults face when determining if they have their own faith or are merely clinging to their parents’ faith. My experiences have given me a passion to equip others with tools to understand their own personal relationships with God. Faith’s Journey does this while honestly showing readers that a real life of faith is messy, and it isn’t always easy to know God’s will. It also brings readers hope that even when we fail, God can work it out for our good.
Professionally, I have successfully completed both the Institute of Children’s Literature writing course and the Christian Writers’ Guild Apprentice course. I have attended various Christian writers’ conferences. Focus on the Family’s Thriving Family magazine has also published three of my devotions. In addition to these experiences which have helped develop my writing technically, I have successfully completed a course in understanding and teaching personalities based on the Personality Plus system, and I have an associate’s degree in psychology. I used what I learned in these endeavors to bring greater realism to the characters in Faith’s Journey.
About Heather’s book, Faith’s Journey:
Katie McGowan left her parents and their faith behind years ago. However, when faced with a devastating betrayal, Katie is ready to go back to Carbondale, Illinois to help her elderly parents despite their tempestuous relationship. Drained by the constant friction, Katie finds emotional support and encouragement in Austin. His practical, simple faith speaks to Katie, and she finds herself yearning for a new connection to God. As their friendship grows, so does the attraction between Katie and Austin.
Before her fledgling faith and thoughts of romance have a chance to take root, Katie’s cheating fiancé returns, remorseful and promising change. Can her tentative faith strengthen their past love? And if her heart breaks again, will Katie’s journey to faith end before it has really begun?
